The Numbers

Vietnam has maintained a high and continuous growth rate for the last 5 years. In 2007, Vietnam's growth rate was 8.48%, its highest growth rate in the past 11 years. GDP reached 71.2 billion USD and income per person reached 835.9 USD. Export turnover reached 48.4 billion USD.

Problems Yet To Be Overcome

The statistics don't tell everything though. Vietnam is also faced with many challenges such as a high inflation rate, increasing work-force cost, budget deficits, traffic jams, a weak infrastructure, and an energy deficit.
